Staying At EasyHotel In Luton
The day arrived and we headed off to Luton to stay in a hotel. Now I am one for a bargain and thought that £30 for an EasyHotel was a good price. I didn’t book a window, because it cost a few quid more and money was tight. I figured we were only there for one night, so it wouldn’t matter. We expected a budget place because of the price, but when we arrived at the EasyHotel in Luton, it was a bit of a shock to Tilly.
She isn’t a snob and will happily sleep on a bench in the airport. But as our flight wasn’t until 12.55 pm, it wasn’t ideal. I figured that a good night sleep would be good. So we arrived at the EasyHotel in Luton and the check-in was fine. It was 10 pm by this time and we were both tired. We lugged our luggage upstairs and The room door was open. I wearily opened the door slowly, to make sure there was nobody in the room. I have stayed at a Travelodge before and went to my room, only to see someone else in my bed. We popped the key card in the slot to make the electric work, and the light went on, the room was empty.
What You Get With An EasyHotel
easyHotel is just like the planes – orange and white! You can book a room without a window, just like you can book crappy seats on the plane for a cheaper price. Or you can book a room with a window for about £5 more, just like booking a better seat on the plane. The rooms have a lot of orange interiors, my friend described it as an explosion of tomato soup. There is a really random orange hanging thing in the room, I guess it is a coat rack. You get a very very small room, it is basically enough space to walk from the bed to the door or bathroom. BUT as it is budget, I guess you get what you pay for.
The Room Of Terror
Tilly took one look at the room and turned white. She hated it. She hated that there was no window. It was so small that she hated it and she said the toilet looked like it had been ripped out of a plane. The light kept flickering from light to dark, Which got Tilly’s mind racing as she thought we were going to be murdered. We both climbed in bed and watched some tv. If you have ever stayed in an EasyHotel, you will know how thing the walls are. As we tried to settle down in bed, the tv from the room was so loud. When I stayed in an EasyHotel before in Manchester, we heard the person in the room next door, sneeze. Kim said ‘Bless you’ and the person in the next room replied with ‘thank you’. That’s how thin the walls were.
I went to switch the flicking light off before it gave me a headache. the switch was next to the bed. Only the switch didn’t work, So I had to get out of bed, walk to the slot where the key was and remove it. Then imagine having to run back to the bed in pitch black (because there was no window) before the murderers and monsters got you.
We both settled in bed and Tilly decided she was going to stay up all night to keep an eye out in case we got murdered. I told her we were safe, but she didn’t believe it. I don’t think the room door being open at the start helped our situation. She thought someone could open the door whilst we were in it.

Lying To My Daughter!
I told Tilly to go to sleep and I would stay up for a few hours and then we would swap in the night and she could stay awake. But as soon as she was asleep, I closed my eyes and went to sleep myself. I knew I would wake up before her in the morning so she wouldn’t know I had slept. Sometimes you need to lie to your kids to make things a bit easier. Only I got caught out with my lie because Tilly woke up in the night and saw me sleeping. I got a right old telling off in the morning!
Waking Up
I opened my eyes and realised it was still dark, so I closed them again as it must be the middle of the night. Then just as I was dozing off again, I realised the room was dark as we didn’t have a window. For all I knew, it could be 11 AM and we had overslept. I scrambled in the dark for my phone and it was okay, it was still early.
We went to have a shower so we were fresh for the plane. I ran the water and adjusted it to add some cold water. Only it wasn’t going to happen. The water was scolding hot and there was absolutely no cold coming out at all. We had a quick wipe over and just got dressed. We went down to find somewhere for breakfast and we mentioned the problems in the room. The woman in reception offered to find another room for us to shower in, but we had had enough of the room in the hotel.
When we checked out the lady at reception told us that she would put us in a better room the next time we stay. I politely told her that we wouldn’t be returning to EasyHotel in Luton and I would be cancelling my stay when we return from Holland.

I have stayed in some really random places in my time and some really dodgy hotels like the one in Basel but this even beats that hotel. If I was you, I would pay a little more and stay somewhere else.
