Vicky When you need to get around Aalborg city it is so much easier than I anticipated. The public transport system is easy to use and actually really well priced. It is always on time and comfortable to ride.
When You Arrive At Aalborg By Plane
In Aalborg, you leave the terminal and catch the bus from the stop outside. It’s so easy and the buses run every few minutes. you have these busses to choose from 70 (Thisted-Aalborg) 71( Airport – Aalborg) 12 (Universitetet). We used bus number 12 and it dropped us really close to the Radisson Blu hotel. The bus costs DK22 and the kids are free.
Get Around Aalborg City To Visit Attractions
You can get a taxi from the airport but they are expensive and the bus takes you to the town anyway. We used a cab when we first went to Aalborg and we wanted to go to the Lindholm Hoje Museum . And as it was my first time, I wasn’t sure of buses but you can get there by bus if you get the 12 towards Universitetet and get off at Viaduktvej (Thistedvej / Nørresundby), then is just over a mile walk to the museum and most of that is along a dirt track that busses can’t get to anyway.
Getting to the zoo is easy by getting the bus number 960X from the bus terminal in the city centre and it stops at Sygehus Syd where you get off and walk half a KM to the zoo.
Fårup Sommerland amusement park was voted the second best amusement park in Europe a few times over the past few years. It’s easier to get to if you drive but it takes 2 hours on the buses to get there. It’s not quite in Aalborg and is north of the city on the coast. Take bus 200 from the bus terminal to Blokhus but you need to get off at stop Kirkevej. Then change to
621 towards Saltum Skole (Nolsvej / Saltum) and get off at Fårupvej. Then it is nearly 2 Kms walk to the amusement park.
How To Get Around In Denmark
Hire a car, either at the airport or in the city. This will enable you to see more of the city and the surrounding areas.
See the city from the water by hiring a GoBoat, and see the city and surrounding waters by being your own captain. The boats hold up to 8 people and you can hire them for an hour or 2 for the best enjoyment. You don’t need any certificate and learners can do it too.
In Denmark, they love cycling, So why not hire a bicycle? you can get around and see the city in a healthy way and not cause any damage to the environment. you can hire bikes from Munks Cykeludlejning in the shopping centre. They are open every day except Sunday.
There is a train network that is reliable and runs intercity trains but if you’re only going to Aalborg, you won’t need to use it.
You can travel further afield by using FlixBus to Copenhagen, a journey of little over 5 hours or to other European destinations and the Thinggaard Express to travel between Frederikshaven – Aalborg – Esbjerg
