How to Plan For Your Trip to Florida

Your Trip To Florida

If you live in the UK, then you may have noticed that it isn’t the largest country in the world. This is where travelling to America can be such a culture. America is, for lack of a better word, massive. There are so many things to see and places to visit in the USA. Which makes it one of those countries that you can visit over and over again.  The Covid-19 pandemic has made international travel so difficult for the past couple of years. But things have finally opened up to allow us to visit our neighbours across the Atlantic and explore their enormous and varied nation. One of the places to visit has to be a trip to Florida.

The Sunshine State, as it’s known, is famous for a few sites worth visiting. You have lovely sandy beaches, with clear blue water that’s surprisingly warm to anyone used to cooler seas. Families can go for the full Disney experience or pop by some of the other theme parks and museums. You can also go to the Everglades and experience some of the natural beauty of Florida.

So, it’s clear that there’s a lot to do when you get to Florida. But how can you plan for your trip so that you get the most out of the Sunshine State?

Prepare For Your Trip To Florida

Once you’ve decided to go, the first steps to your trip to Florida are likely to be your first step to any international trip. The dreaded paperwork. You should check out governmental travel advice, which provides all the information and links to resources that you may need. This includes the most recent travel restrictions and a link to the entry requirements into the USA.

If you’ve been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have recovered from a documented infection within the past 90 days. Then you can enter the USA, and you won’t have to quarantine. You will need proof of vaccination. If you aren’t fully vaccinated, then you will either need to be a US National or Citizen. Or you can have one of the exceptions listed on the CDC website. Again, you can find a link to this from the governmental resources.

British Citizens can apply for an ESTA and expedited customs clearance, which makes the journey over there a little less fraught. Get these applications sorted out ahead of time, so that you don’t miss any.

Another bit of paperwork to get out of the way is your travel insurance. Medical travel insurance is recommended if you have any health problems. Otherwise, you could get hit with some nasty bills. Take medications, along with your prescription, so that you can continue to enjoy your time there.

Finally, make sure that your passport is valid and get it sorted if it isn’t. Do this well in advance of your planned trip. This is so you aren’t faced with the nasty surprise of digging out your invalid passport a few hours before you leave.

Plan Your Itinerary For Your Trip To Florida

Now that all the paperwork has been sorted out, you can move on to the more exciting part of planning your adventure. Most people who go to America tend to go for at least a couple of weeks if they can help it. Then you have time to recover from the dreaded jet lag.

It isn’t as bad going over there as it is flying back to the UK, but it’s still handy to have a day to adjust to a different time zone. The journey is tiring as well, so consider leaving your plans for the day after you land.

Different people take different approaches to planning their holidays, and there’s no wrong way to plan. Other than neglecting to plan at all. Only you know what your family is like and what they enjoy. As well as what they expect from Florida.

Even if you like to be a bit less organised and a bit more spontaneous, you should still do a bit of research. Especially on local attractions and places to eat. This way, you have some ideas of what to do in your area, and you avoid spending half of the day trying to figure out where to visit and how to get there.

The thing is, there is a lot to do in Florida, and there are activities and attractions that appeal to everyone. If you go on holiday to relax and fully intend on spending the entire time lying on the beach, then go for it. But there’s something for the more adventurous among you or those with families as well.

Culture, History And More

If you’re interested in science, history, and culture, then look into some of the fantastic museums that you can visit. If you like city life, then Miami might be perfect for you. You can visit the Everglades for a taste of natural Floridian beauty, or explore some of the varied and exciting theme parks in Florida.

Most people like a variety of activities. You can have the best of both worlds, exploring cities and attractions on some days, then interspersing your time with a lazy day at the beach. The beach doesn’t just have to be lazy, either. You can take part in watersports and even swim with marine life. With a bit of research, you can find some of the most interesting things to do in your area.

Book Everything

You shouldn’t skip any of the steps in this post, but if you don’t book anything, then you’ll be in for a nasty and expensive surprise when you get to the airport. Prices tend to rise sharply when you get within about a month of the flight date. You should give it at least three months before booking, or ideally, more like five or six months for cheaper flights.

You also want to book your accommodation early, which means that you need to figure out where you’re going in Florida. It takes about 13 hours to drive from one end of Florida to the other (vertically), although if you want to make a road trip out of it and explore the state more thoroughly, it will take longer.

However, this means that you should pick your location depending on where you want to go and what kind of experience you want. While you can drive to most places in Florida within a day, you might not want to travel too far.

As well as your location, you should figure out what kind of place to stay in. One great idea is to have some of the ultimate villas in Florida. This means that you can experience a luxurious and relaxing holiday and take your trip to the next level.

Pack Your Bags

The final step before your flight is to pack your bags and get ready to go. Florida is hot, so unless you’re going in the middle of winter (and maybe even if you are), pack plenty of shorts, swimwear, and light clothing. Most buildings and vehicles do have air conditioning, so a jacket or cardigan might come in handy, especially if the air is set slightly too low for your liking.

Don’t forget medication, chargers, and plug adaptors so that you can deal with the different plug sockets in the United States. You should also make sure that you pack some sunscreen. It’s so easy to get burnt in Florida, especially if you plan on spending many an hour relaxing on the beach or by a swimming pool.

Some people like to use a packing checklist so that they’re sure that they’ve brought everything they need. No matter your style, try not to stress out too much. Just concentrate on looking forward to your next holiday.
