She has actually asked if she can go to Turkey, it has been on her wish list for about a year now. I know a lot of people say that it is a dangerous place to visit at the moment, but its a load of rubbish really. Turkey is hot and beautiful, the majority of the people are fabulous and you can get some great bargains if you go shopping out there. I go to Antalya with friends as an adults only holiday, I haven't been to any other parts of the country so going there would also be nice.
There is just something about Croatia that makes me want to take Tilly there, If you think only a little more than 25 years ago it was a war torn country suffering from the effects of war. But now when you open up a holiday brochure, it looks amazing. I don't know what draws me there, but I really want to go.
I want to be able to see the northern lights, I want to take Tilly to the snow and I want to take her to one of the most northern countries in the world. I think I imagine Iceland as very clean air and fresh. I think a long weekend there would be lovely.
I have wanted to go to Poland for about 20 years, I think as the Berlin wall fell and Eastern Europe opened up to the western people, then I have just been so curious as to what the country is like. Polish people do come to live in the UK now and they talk about Poland with such passion. And I want to try Polish Vodka. It is definitely one thing I want to do before I die. I imagine Poland to be quite cheap for shopping too.
When the older kids were little we went to Roveneimi for a day trip to the North Pole, of course it was a Santa trip and even though the kids were older by then (11, 12 and 14) it was still magical. I want to bring that magic to Tilly. I want her to experience the reindeer rides and the husky dog sleigh ride. I want to be able to see the Northern lights .... They were not out when we went before, so I was very disappointed.
So These are on my list of where I want to take Tilly to. Travel is very important for children, I think they learn more from it than they do sitting in a class room. I have always made sure that my kids travel and create memories that will stay with them forever.
Do you have a travel bucket list?
